Fatal motorcycle crash in Florissant

A 29-year-old North St. Louis County man was killed Wednesday after his motorcycle collided with another vehicle in Florissant.

The accident happened around 9:30 p.m. at the intersection of Norther Waterford Dr. and Thoroughbred when Robert Austin of the 10300 block of Duke crashed his motorcycle into an SUV that turned in front of him onto North Waterford Drive, police said.

Austin was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Investigators are trying to determine if alcohol played a role in the accident,” said Florissant Sgt. Kevin Boschert.

5 teens die in Montana when pickup slams into embankment

The Associated Press HELENA, Mont. — A Montana coroner says five teenagers died immediately in an early morning crash when their pickup truck failed to negotiate a turn and slammed into an embankment. Lewis and Clark County Coroner Mickey Nelson says three males and two females died Sunday in what he describes as an “extreme high impact accident.” The Montana Highway Patrol says it’s unclear if seat belts were in use, or if alcohol was a factor in the crash, which took place about 12 miles east of Helena at about 1:10 a.m.

Spring break trip ends in tragedy on I-55

KSDK One man is dead, two others seriously hurt after a van carrying seven Wisconsin college students crashed Sunday morning on I-55 in Jefferson County, Missouri. The crash happened around 8:00 a.m. in the northbound lanes near the Imperial Main exit. Ron Harder, with the Rock Community Fire Protection District says the students were returning to Wisconsin from a spring break trip in Texas when the van hit a guard rail and ran off the road. Some of the students, all men in their early twenties, had to be cut from the van. One died a the scene. The rest were rushed to nearby hospitals. Two students remain in serious condition.

NBC’s David Shuster reports. At least 11 people were killed in a crash involving a tractor-trailer and a church van in Kentucky Friday, NBC reported. The accident happened on I-65 near Cave City, north of Bowling Green, at about 5:17 a.m. central time on the northbound lane. A department of transportation official said a southbound semi-truck crossed the median and crashed head-on into an 18-passenger van, NBC said. At least one of the vehicles was said to have burst into flames.

2 seriously injured in I-270 crash

Two people were seriously hurt late Thursday night when their car went out of control and hit the concrete median barrier on eastbound Interstate 270 at West Florissant Avenue, the Missouri Highway Patrol says.

Taken to hospitals were the driver, Daniel E. Miller, 21, and his passenger, Erica N. Ford, 22, both of Florissant.

The patrol says Miller’s 1995 Buick LeSabre was extensively damaged in the crash, which happened at about 11:30 p.m. Thursday.

Girl, 10, killed in ATV crash in Madison County

A 10-year-old girl died from injuries she suffered when the all-terrain vehicle she was riding on flipped onto the top of her Friday evening near New Douglas. Madison County Sheriff’s Capt. Brad Wells said the girl, from the Livingston area, was a passenger on the ATV, which was being driven on private land along Bonini Road. The vehicle flipped and landed on top of her. The girl was taken to a hospital in Staunton, then flown to a St. Louis hospital, where she died. Wells said the fatality appears to be “strictly an accident.” It happened about 6:20 p.m. Police were not releasing the name of the girl as of Saturday morning.

Tractor trailer accident injures two men in Noel News-Leader staff • Two Nebraska men were injured Sunday morning when the tractor trailer they were in overturned on Highway 59 in Noel, the Missouri Highway Patrol reports. Wayne Beberniss, 54, of Papillion, Nebr., sustained minor injuries as the driver of the rig. His passenger, Robert Vaughan, 47, of Dawson, Nebr., sustained moderate injuries. The two men were taken to Northwest Regional Medical Center in Bentonville, Ark. Troopers say the tractor trailer was going southbound on Highway 57 ran off of the roadway, hit a guardrail and overturned.

Simvastatin is sold as a single-ingredient generic medication and as the brand-name, Zocor. It is also sold in combination with ezetimibe as Vytorin; and niacin as Simcor. Belleville man dies in golf-cart accident

BY JACQUELINE LEE – News-Democrat SWANSEA — A Clinton Hill Country Club Restaurant & Bar employee was killed Tuesday afternoon when his body was crushed by a golf cart outfitted with fertilizing equipment. Police have not named the 29-year-old Belleville man because his family has not yet been notified, Swansea Police Sgt. Scott Lieb said. “There’s nothing in the report that alleges anything suspicious. It appears to be a tragic accident,” Lieb said. No one has come forward as a witness to the incident, Lieb said. Police believe the employee was alone and operating a golf cart that was outfitted with fertilizing equipment. The golf cart rolled over the man on a slope near hole number four. Police responded at 3:01 p.m. Tuesday to the 18-hole golf course at 3700 Old Collinsville Road. “We don’t know if the driver lost control and jumped off of it as it rolled down the slope or if the driver was ejected from it,” Lieb said. “Nobody witnessed it that we know of and apparently there was only one person on it.” The golf course manager told police the employee was fertilizing the course as part of his job. It was not immediately known how long the man had been an employee at the country club.
